This teapot is from a collection of floral, porcelain teapots that I made while in residence in New Harmony, Indiana at the New Harmony Clay Project. This was a wonderful opportunity to live in Historic New Harmony, learn about the utopian Harmonists, and immerse myself in the "sense of place" being integral to creative inspiration. These teapots are very decorative as well as technically functional and food safe.
This series of 4 porcelain teapots were inspired by the "Flat backed Victorian" decorative mantle pieces. My version of Staffordshire dogs! This teapot pairs well with the Moods and Curiosities piece. They work well in bookcases too. Depicted on the front is an unedited photo of the historic Gate House, the oldest building in New Harmony, where the Clay Project residents are housed. The upper left window was my room and the white cloud was where I encountered my first ghost and it appeared in this photo. On the back is the New Harmony Cemetery where the photo of the "Stairway to Heaven" revealed 2 bluish specter forms! The photos are a fired on transfer process. Only handmade flowers and antlers adorned this teapot, no reflective surfaces! It is 12" high, 6" wide and 3" deep.
