This teapot is from a collection of floral, porcelain teapots that I made while in residence in New Harmony, Indiana at the New Harmony Clay Project. This was a wonderful opportunity to live in Historic New Harmony, learn about the utopian Harmonists, and immerse myself in the "sense of place" being integral to creative inspiration. These teapots are very decorative as well as technically functional and food safe.
This series of 4 porcelain teapots were inspired by the "Flat backed Victorian" decorative mantle pieces. My version of Staffordshire dogs! This teapot pairs well with the Hauntings piece. They work well in bookcases too. Depicted on the front is an unedited photo taken through the window of the Clay Project Studio on a rainy spring morning. It is the back porch of the historic double cabin surrounded by the budding trees. Reality can be so ethereal sometimes. On the back is the "famous" 8 legged calf at the Working Men's Institute. Definitely a curiosity! The photos are a fired on transfer process. Handmade flowers, antlers , and white gold luster adorned this teapot. It is 12" high, 6" wide and 3" deep.
