This teapot is from a collection of floral, porcelain teapots that I made while in residence in New Harmony, Indiana at the New Harmony Clay Project. The second image is us firing it in a gas/salt kiln at NHCP. This was a wonderful opportunity to live in Historic New Harmony, learn about the utopian Harmonists, and immerse myself in the "sense of place" being integral to creative inspiration. These teapots are very decorative as well as technically functional and food safe.
This "Rooster" Teapot features pink roses, high fired gold luster body, and a gorgeous salt yellow glaze. It was not intended to look like a rooster but it sort of resembled one in the end. So maybe the chickens I encountered in my ramblings around New Harmony did creep in to the imagery after all! It is 9" high and 5" wide.
