This teapot is from a collection of floral, porcelain teapots that I made while in residence in Jingdezhen, China. The clay comes from the kaolin mountain that was the source for the well known Ming Dynasty porcelains. This was a wonderful opportunity to study with Chinese porcelain masters in flower making, carving, and painting. These teapots are very decorative as well as technically functional and food safe.
This Yixing Teapot Barge Teapot features a delicate (but very strong and durable) butterfly and leaves and fired on transfers. Riding prominently on deck is a found Yixing miniature teapot sourced in the early hours of the Ghost Market in Jingdezhen. It is 6" high and 5" wide.
