This teapot is from a collection of floral, porcelain teapots that I made while in residence in Jingdezhen, China. The clay comes from the kaolin mountain that was the source for the well known Ming Dynasty porcelains. This was a wonderful opportunity to study with Chinese porcelain masters in flower making, carving, and painting. These teapots are very decorative as well as technically functional and food safe.
This Purple Rose of Shanghai Teapot features delicate (but very strong and durable) roses, butterflies, leaves and fired on transfers. It is 6" high and 5" wide.
