This teapot is from a collection of floral, porcelain teapots that I made while in residence in New Harmony, Indiana at the New Harmony Clay Project. This was a wonderful opportunity to live in Historic New Harmony, learn about the utopian Harmonists, and immerse myself in the "sense of place" being integral to creative inspiration. These teapots are very decorative as well as technically functional and food safe.
This series of 4 porcelain teapots were inspired by the "Flat backed Victorian" decorative mantle pieces. My version of Staffordshire dogs! This teapot pairs well with the Peach roses piece. They work well in bookcases too. This one engages the interplay between the 2 and 3 dimensional images of chrysanthemums and roses. It is predominantly red on one side and green on the other, making it a versatile decorative piece. Handmade flowers and fired on gold luster are featured. It is 12" high, 6" wide and 3" deep.
